App in testing phase
About
Linux Master is a complete offline-first guide for learning and practising Linux: 3,500+ commands, keywords, operators, variables and concepts with descriptions, options and real-world examples — plus a real shell, quizzes and hands-on tasks.
Key features
- Complete reference — 10 categories: Basic Linux, Network & Security, Bash & Shell, Web Security, Scripting, Keyboard Shortcuts, Filesystems & Permissions, Operators & RegEx, Automation, and a built-in Introduction. A–Z navigation, expandable cards and one-tap copy.
- Two terminals — a safe virtual sandbox with installable practice packages, and a real shell running genuine bash with its own APT mirror of self-built, signature-checked packages. Switch between them at any time, with a terminal key row and history.
- Three quiz modes — Classic for relaxed practice with unlimited retries, a harder Daily Challenge with one attempt per day, and Review quizzes built from commands you have already learned.
- Weekly tasks — hands-on scenarios where you type the command that solves them for XP, plus side-by-side comparisons of easily confused commands. Fresh sets rotate every Monday.
- XP, levels and streaks — earn XP for reading, copying examples, quizzes, tasks and package installs; track it all with levels, achievements and a progress dashboard.
- Smart search — full-text search plus intent search (“describe what you want to do”), with filters and history kept on your device.
- Collections and bookmarks — save favourites and build custom sets like exam prep or server setup, all stored locally.
- Guided learning — step-by-step paths (Fundamentals, Networking, Security, Files & Permissions, Processes, Text Tools, Package Management), a visual Command Builder and a Command of the Day.
- Personal display — 7 themes with light and dark mode, font size (10–30) and weight options, and a run-in-background choice.
- Free with ads — optional one-time treats (coffee, pizza, supporter, champion) remove ads for 4–30 days each and can be repeated.
- Works offline — no account or login. Settings includes an update checker plus in-app Support and Privacy Policy viewers.
Support
Start in the virtual terminal: it is a safe sandbox where you can even install practice packages without touching your device. The real shell runs genuine bash with its own package mirror for true hands-on work. You can switch between the two at any time.
Its private workspace needs no permission at all. Access to shared folders is only enabled if you grant it in system settings — the app never takes it silently. You can review or reset this anytime under Settings → Packages & Storage.
Classic quizzes are relaxed practice with unlimited retries and no XP. The Daily Challenge allows one attempt per day, asks harder questions and pays bonus XP. Review quizzes are built from commands you have learned. You also earn XP for reading entries, copying examples, completing tasks and installing practice packages — it all feeds your level, streaks and the progress dashboard.
Tasks are hands-on scenarios: type the command that solves each real-world situation to earn XP. New task and comparison sets rotate every Monday, so there is always something fresh to try.
The app is free and shows occasional interstitial ads to support development. Optional one-time treats — coffee, pizza, supporter or champion — remove ads for 4 to 30 days each. They can be repeated and stack, and stay on the device where you bought them.
Only terminal-side data: installed practice packages, the real-shell workspace and the granted storage folder. Your XP, levels, achievements, bookmarks and collections are kept.
On your device only — along with search history and preferences. They are never uploaded anywhere, and clearing the app's storage removes them.
Open Settings → Check for update to fetch the latest version. The same screen offers 7 themes with light and dark mode, font size (10–30) and weight options, plus a run-in-background choice. It also holds the in-app Support contact and Privacy Policy viewer.
Email us your device model, Android version, app version (2.2.1) and the exact steps that triggered it. Crash reports already reach us automatically, but those details make fixes much faster.
